Lernakademie Darmstadt has chosen the town of Darmstadt as its location for a specific reason: in August 1997 Darmstadt was awarded the title of "Town of Science" by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior. This award served to recognize both the national and international importance of the academic institutions and research institutes of Darmstadt.
